Service

One of the very important aspects of our faith is to serve others…as Jesus says, “To love our neighbor”.  St. James wants to provide many ways for people to use their God-given gifts to serve in Jesus’ name.  Many ministries exist within the life of the church to serve in a wide range of capacities.  One example is our lay visitors team who visit our shut-in and nursing home patients. In new member classes finding and using your gifts is explored.  St. James is highly committed to serving our community and world, so we support ministries outside of the congregation, within the community.  There are far too many ministries to list here; if you would like to learn more about these opportunities contact Bobbie, our Director of Discipling, at the church office.

Mission and Servant Trips

Always striving to follow Jesus, there are opportunities for children through adults to serve on trips in the USA and beyond!  Youth spend approximately two weeks each summer at a location learning about different cultures and working hard to serve the people there.  Families often choose to serve those devastated by Katrina along our Gulf Coast or in small communities in Mexico.  Open to new experiences, it's exciting to wonder where God will lead us next!

Project Outreach

One of the ministries that St. James supports is Project Outreach in Royersford which has an emergency food pantry and provides assistance, counseling and referrals for housing, fuel, utilities, transportation, family and children's services, and other emergency needs.  The ministry is staffed entirely by volunteers, most from local churches.  We serve once every thirteen weeks in the food pantry on Thursday mornings.

Operation Shining Star

Each year St James provides a complete Christmas dinner for needy families in our community.  You can participate by sponsoring a dinner and/or delivering it to the family in need. A Christmas tree in the sanctuary is decorated with an ornament to signify each family who received a dinner.

Smart Start

This new ministry provides book bags and school supplies to needy children in the community at the beginning of the school year.  Our goals are to reflect the love of Jesus to these children and to provide the necessary supplies to help them start the school year in a positive way!

The Craft Fair and Rummage Sale

Usually one in the fall and one in late spring are held to raise money for different ministries in our community, nation and world.

Christmas Caroling

Each year we carol for the shut-in members of the church and in the community.  We hope you become a part of this joyous Christmas tradition.

 New Directions

We are constantly looking for new ways to serve others…if you’ve got an idea, passion, or dream talk to our Director of Discipling about starting a new ministry to love our neighbor!
