What to expect when you visit St. James!

Nice to meet you! Most people comment that friendly people is one of the first things you notice at St. James.  Sometimes while still in the parking lot, someone will wish you a good morning and let you know this is a place where friends gather.  Most mornings you'll also get a handshake and welcome from Pastor Stuart and a warm smile from one of our ushers.  There's no dress code at St. James, so you'll experience everything from jeans and casual wear to suits and dresses.  We're not so concerned about that outward stuff, what matters is that you've come to worship the Lord this day!

Most services start with a time to welcome those around you and be connected with your neighbor before it's time to connect with God.  The contemporary services have the entire service on the large multi-media screen for your convenience.  At the 10:45 traditional service, you'll receive a bulletin that contains the entire service so there's no fumbling around with different hymnals or trying to find the right page.  Just ask an usher if you'd rather have a large print bulletin. Depending on whether you're attending the contemporary or traditional  service, you'll be inspired by the funky sounds of a contemporary band or beautiful organ music meant to inspire you and deepen your faith.  Both services follow a pattern which changes every season.  This gives us some consistency from week to week while adding a little variety to worship.

God's WordWe'll hear from the Bible and you'll get a practical and inspirational message which really helps you grow closer to God and neighbor.  Often guests worry about the church asking for money, and we do take an offering.  This is an expression of faith by the members of St. James and supports the ministry and mission of this congregation...you're not obligated to place anything in the plate.  Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of the month at all services and you're always welcome to commune.

Between services on Sunday there's always a pot of coffee on and cold drinks.  Not to mention the delicious cookies to enjoy while you meet the other people worshiping that morning.  In all, it's a great way to spend an hour on a Sunday morning...getting closer to God and your neighbor.  But don't just take our word for it...stop by this weekend!
